RIT’s Signatures Magazine Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Gallery r Showcase

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Signatures Magazine is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an art and poetry exhibition at RIT’s Gallery r in Rochester’s arts district. The event features new artwork from RIT students and alumni, as well as a display of past issues, plus an open mic performance of music and poetry by current RIT students.

There will also be a special performance by vocalist/guitarist JC Mothersell, accompanied by the Jack Swift Band. The first three hundred guests will receive a commemorative chapbook highlighting 25 years of Signatures publications.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will be held 7 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at 775 Park Ave.

Signatures was founded in 1984 and now includes a print magazine and Web site which are conceived, designed and produced by RIT students and feature art, writing, photography, multi-media works and film productions by college students from across the country. The publication won a 2009 Crown Award in the best college magazine category, presented by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Signatures is now accepting student writing and artwork for its spring 2010 issue at its Web site www.rit.edu/sg/signatures.

Signatures is housed in the RIT English department and supported by the Office of the Provost, the Institute Creative Arts Fund, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, the B. Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, and RIT Student Government.
