Hospitality Students Host Silent Auction, Wine and Beer Tasting March 20

Event benefits this year’s RITz Dinner and Hospitality Education Fund

Students in the School of Hospitality and Service Management at Rochester Institute of Technology will host a Silent Auction and Wine and Beer Tasting at 6 p.m. on March 20. The event takes place at Lovin’ Cup Bistro in Park Point and is open to the public.

The auction is part of the festivities leading up to the annual RITz Black Tie Dinner that will be held March 27. All proceeds from the auction and the dinner go toward the school’s Hospitality Education Fund to support students in the program.

Bidding for items in the silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. and will include gift certificates to local restaurants, shops, salons and local artisans’ pieces. Winners will be announced at 10 p.m.

The wine and beer tasting will be available for those 21 and older, with a $5 donation. Local singer, songwriter and musician Dave McGrath will perform 7-10 pm.

“We are still accepting items for the silent auction until March 20, the day of the auction,” says Elizabeth Lincoln, co-chair of the RITz Dinner. She and her co-chair, Serita Randall, organized the auction last year for the first time and raised more than $1,700. Those who would like to donate items can contact Lincoln at elizabeth.lincoln3@yahoo.com. For more information about getting tickets visit the RITz Dinner website.
