RIT’s Babak Elahi Performs at ArtAwake

Rochester music and cultural festival features local musicians, art and artists, April 10

Babak Elahi, a folk and blues musician and associate professor of English at Rochester Institute of Technology, will perform at ArtAwake 2010, the third annual Rochester arts and cultural festival, at 8:30 p.m. April 10 at the Monroe County Savings Bank Building, 35 State Street, Rochester. Playing both guitar and harmonica, Elahi’s performance features his original folk and blues compositions.

The performance is part of the festival’s musical show, which accompanies corresponding art exhibits and a showcase of the Monroe County Savings Bank Building, one of the city’s oldest. Performances run from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. with a $10 cover.

For close to two decades Elahi has recorded and performed solo and with a number of bands both in Rochester and his hometown of San Diego. Most recently he was in the local blues rock groups 11n2 and Mugwump Soul. For more information on his music visit Babak Elahi ReverbNation website.
