The annual Taste of RIT to benefit United Way was a huge success with more than 1,000 visitors.

The purpose of United Way is twofold: Your gift provides a gift.

This year’s “Live United” campaign was difficult for those donating on stretched budgets, but the RIT community still came through.

RIT beat its goal of $415,000 by pledging nearly $420,000 to the 2010 United Way of Greater Rochester campaign.

“What made the accomplishment of reaching the goal so amazing was that we were able to post 100 percent ‘mercury’ on all the campus goal thermometers along with large ‘We Did It’ signs just prior to the start of the Imagine RIT festival,” says Lynn Rowoth, 2010 RIT United Way campaign coordinator.

“It was great knowing that thousands of people would see the innovative sites on campus as well as see how supportive our students, faculty and staff are of the community at large. RIT continues to be remarkably generous and we can be proud that we rallied together in making change and progress real for those in need.”
