Panel to Discuss Contributions of Hispanic Leaders Sept. 30

Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month includes focus on education, business and Deaf community

RIT hosts Hispanic Heritage celebration on September 30th.

As part of this year’s Hispanic Heritage celebration, Rochester Institute of Technology is hosting a panel of educational and business leaders to discuss the influence and contributions of Rochester’s Hispanic community. The event takes place at 5 p.m. Sept. 30 in the Bamboo Room, room 2610-2650, in the university’s Campus Center.

The panel consists of several Rochester Hispanic leaders sharing their experiences and insights to raise awareness of Hispanic contributions and celebrate the RIT/NTID and Rochester Hispanic communities. Participants are Emeterio M. Otero, executive dean, Monroe Community College, Damon City Campus; Gladys Pedraza-Burgos, chief of Youth Development and Family Services, Rochester City School District; Julio Saenz, founder of the local newspaper ConXion; Christine Nuñez, a teacher at Rochester School for the Deaf; Marguerite Carrillo, lecturer, National Technical Institute for the Deaf, and Lori Rosario, sales engineer, Rotork Fluid Systems.

The event is free and open to the public. Dinner will be provided at the event. Interpreters for the deaf and hard-of-hearing have been requested.
