As a third-year photojournalism major, I’m learning how to compose elements and pay attention to the frame and light in order to capture the moment and make a good photograph. I’m a huge fan of RIT photojournalism alumni, including Mario Tama and Aristide Economopoulos, and looking at their work is a great inspiration for me. Mud Tug is such a busy event that it can be difficult to bring order to the chaos and direct the viewer within the frame. The reason I like this photograph is that when you look at it, the photo conveys that energy and excitement in a way that isn’t overwhelming to the eye. Of course, while you’re trying to make good photos, it’s also important to remember to keep your cameras clean!
