The identity of RIT’s future hockey arena will be known as the Gene Polisseni Center, named after the prominent businessman, philanthropist and sports fan.
The announcement was made Nov. 11. RIT President Bill Destler declared that naming of the facility results from a $4.5 million partnership between the Polisseni Foundation and B. Thomas Golisano, founder and chairman of Paychex Inc. and an RIT trustee.
The $4.5 million commitment becomes the most recent and most significant gift in support of Tiger Power Play—The Campaign for RIT Hockey, which aims to raise $15 million of the total $30 million cost of construction for the new arena.
