The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority recognized RIT with a High Performance Building plaque for energy-saving investments that will reduce energy costs by nearly $50,000 annually.
With its high-efficiency equipment, the 54,000-square-foot University Services Center saves the equivalent amount of energy annually consumed by about 50 single-family households.
The project was supported by $170,581 in NYSERDA incentives, which helped fund energy-efficiency improvements including a high-efficiency HVAC system, high-efficiency lighting and premium efficiency motors. All sponsored incentives were required to meet NYSERDA standards in order to receive funding.
