College of Imaging Arts and Sciences Website Wins Third Award

Site earns Center for Digital Education’s top award

The Center for Digital Education selected the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences website as one of two winners of the 2012 Best of the Web Awards in the college-university website category.

The Center for Digital Education has selected Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences website as one of two winners of the 2012 Best of the Web Awards in the college-university website category, along with Savannah College of Art and Design.

Earlier this year, the website was recognized by a pair of awards. The Rochester Business Journal chose the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences as the recipient of the Best of the Web award in the education category, and the Rochester Advertising Foundation bestowed a gold ADDY award upon the website in the interactive media division.

The website, created by Dumbwaiter Design, features a “Path Finder” tool that allows students who are unsure of their career interests to easily explore different disciplines to help them determine which program aligns with their career goals.

“Our goal is to empower students to be able to make informed decisions about their area of study and their future careers,” says Lucas Barber, marketing communications manager of the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. “The pathfinder tool is designed to simplify the students’ decision-making process.”

Another feature of the website is the student showcase, which is a space that allows students to share their work for critique by their peers.

“The showcase was designed to help foster a sense of community by allowing students from majors that wouldn’t normally cross paths the ability to enjoy the work of their fellow classmates,” Barber says.

The Center for Digital Education Best of the Web Awards recognize and honor outstanding K-12 and higher education websites.
