Let’s talk Turkey, the country straddling Europe and Asia that has emerged as a major player on the global business and political stage.
The International Resource Group is hosting a panel from the E. Philip Saunders College of Business Executive MBA program at Rochester Institute of Technology to discuss their findings from company projects conducted in Istanbul last October.
The luncheon event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Mohawk Global Logistics, 400 Air Park Drive.
The panelists are: Krista Vardabash, owner of KV Strategies; Robert Giambrone, M.D., Rochester General Hospital; and Ellen Morris, research manager at Dixon Schwabl.
According to the international press, the new growth opportunities are not with the BRICs—Brazil, Russia, India or China—but the MIST economies: Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Turkey.
This trip by the Saunders EMBA students to Istanbul was a shift in focus from Asia, where the school has run trips in four out of the last five years.
During their stay in Istanbul, the panelists interviewed executive leaders at GE Turkey, Eczacibasi, an international joint venture with Germany’s Henkle Corp., and Diyalogo, an e-commerce software start-up. Despite the disparities in size and resources, common themes emerged and will be shared by the panelists.
