Banff Mountain Film Festival comes to RIT

Film collection features stories of action sports, wild landscapes and remote cultures

Rochester-area filmgoers will journey to some of the most captivating places on Earth, as the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour returns to Rochester Institute of Technology Feb. 16-18.

This year’s tour, which showcases a selection of award-winning films and audience favorites spotlighting landscapes, cultures, action sports and exploration of mountain regions, will be shown at 7 p.m. Feb. 16, 17 and 18 in the Student Alumni Union’s Ingle Auditorium. Films from the 37th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival will travel to 400 communities around the world.

“The 2012/2013 world tour films feature everything from an exploration of remote landscapes through paragliding to adrenaline-fueled action sports like extreme slacklining, trials cycling and whitewater kayaking,” says Tom Connelly, program director of RIT’s Interactive Adventures. “The best part is that each night will consist of its own unique line-up of films.”

Advance tickets can be purchased at RIT’s Gordon Field House and Activities Center box office, or call 585-475-4121 to charge by phone.

Tickets are as follows:

  • $10 for RIT students
