With a capacity crowd expected for the March 25 “Evening with Maya Angelou” program at Rochester Institute of Technology, campus officials arranged for guest parking at The Marketplace mall and free shuttles to and from the event.

While the event begins at 4:30 p.m. on March 25 at RIT’s Gordon Field House and Activity Center, doors to the event will be open at 2 p.m. Shuttle service will begin at 1:45 p.m. from The Marketplace, specifically the parking lot at the rear-most area of the complex, near the former Designer Shoe Warehouse store.

There will be signs at the mall directing patrons to park in designated areas and for shuttle services. Riders will be dropped off at the main entrance to RIT’s field house, and this will be the pick-up location for return service to the mall after the event.

Parking will not be available on the RIT campus, and those who are not students, faculty or staff registered to park on the campus will be ticketed and vehicles towed. Handicapped parking will be available in D Lot; those needing handicapped access can be dropped at the ground level door of the field house.

Guests are asked to arrive early, as registration does not guarantee admission, according to event organizers. Building and safety codes require that the venue close once building capacity has been attained.
