Mechanical engineering alumnus Paul Kayser leads conversation on entrepreneurship

Paul Kayser ’83, group president at Nypro Packaging, presents “Dream Big, and Model Your Way There” on Nov. 6 as part of the KGCOE Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series.

Paul Kayser ’83, group president at Nypro Packaging, is the featured speaker at the upcoming Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series event. He will present “Dream Big, and Model Your Way There” at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Xerox Auditorium in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

Kayser’s presentation will focus on acquiring engineering and business skills as a foundation toward being an entrepreneur, including establishing new business entities within a company. He will relate how he started the Nypro Packaging division in 2005 as the company’s entry into the custom rigid packaging market, providing products and services for brands such as Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, Clorox, Kraft Foods, Coca-Cola and SC Johnson at the companies’ facilities in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and China.

Prior to his role leading the packaging division, he was director of strategic planning and managed the long-term resource planning and investment strategy for the parent company, the Jabil Corp., and financial oversight of the company’s global sales and marketing business units. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from RIT, and was inducted into the Mechanical Engineering Academy in 2013. The latter is an award bestowed on alumni from the engineering college in recognition of their success in business and academia.

The Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series is sponsored by the Kate Gleason College of Engineering and RIT’s Office of Development. Contact Donna Benier at dlbdar@rit.edu or 585-475-4045 for more information.
