Osher at RIT hosts preview of spring classes

What’s new? The 50-plus-learner organization introduces evening classes

Curious minds will find a number of fascinating programs at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology during their sneak peek of spring classes for thinkers ages 50 and beyond. A preview session for interested participants will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Athenaeum Buliding, 50 Fairwood Drive, Henrietta.

Enhancing their primary program, Osher is introducing evening classes from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for people who have daytime commitments. Scheduled classes range from Irish Literature and 20th Century American Vocalists: Roy Orbison and Motown, to Sherlock Holmes: Master of Disguises and Surprises, Themes of the Civil War and Good Golly! It’s Bolly!: Education/Disabilities/Women’s Changing Roles.

“We have always been cognizant of our members who are still working, and the evening classes were designed to reach both current and new members who would like to take advantage of the Osher experience,” said Osher Council Chair Nita Genova. “The vibrancy of the 50-plus learner will amaze you. We have classes that will appeal to people from all walks of life—and it’s a wonderful way to make new friends.”

Other perks in Osher membership include lectures and social events, travel, tours, field trips, an RIT Student Identification card to use at campus events, and access to audiology services at RIT’s libraries.

Seating for the March 21 preview session is limited. Call 585-292-8989 to reserve a spot or email osher@rit.edu.
