Senior wrestlers Tory Cain and Brad Mayville and long-distance track athlete Matt Giannino earned All-American honors at their respective NCAA Championships March 13-14. Mayville, a criminal justice major from Marion, N.Y., finished third nationally at 149 pounds, while Cain, a biomedical sciences major from Ontario, N.Y., was fifth at 174 pounds at the national tournament in Hershey, Pa. Both were also named Academic All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Giannino, a mechanical engineering technology major from Syracuse, N.Y., became the first RIT track student-athlete to earn dual All-American honors in one weekend, finishing sixth in the 3,000-meter run at nationals on March 13 and seventh in the 5,000-meters on March 14. Two days earlier, Giannino was named the Atlantic Region Runner of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
