The Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival has been named “Favorite Family-Friendly Festival” by Kids Out and About.

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival has been voted “Favorite Family-Friendly Festival” by Kids Out and About.

“I would say Imagine RIT has been growing in popularity in the past seven years,” said Debra Ross, publisher of Kids Out and About. “Parents are excited about attending every single year. They know there will be something new. It’s great. And it’s all free. Seriously, nothing touches Imagine RIT.”

Ross said Rochester’s Lilac Festival has traditionally won the top place. This year, the Lilac Festival dropped to second place, followed by Fairport Canal Days, Hilton Apple Festival and the Park Avenue Festival.

She said 3,680 people voted in the category; Imagine RIT finished first by 41 votes.

Kids Out and About started in Rochester and operates in seven regions of the country as an online resource for parents and grandparents who want to know what they can do with their kids in the community.

The Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival is a campus-wide event that showcases the innovative and creative spirit of RIT students, faculty and staff. Visitors experience the breadth and depth of RIT through interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations, exhibitions and research projects set up throughout campus. Multiple performance stages with live music and entertainment are also a hit with visitors of all ages. Held annually each spring, Imagine RIT is the kickoff to Rochester’s rich festival season.

Next year’s festival will be held May 7, 2016.
