Campus and community members joined RIT’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 538 for the annual Veterans Day Run and fundraiser last year. This year’s event takes place at 10 a.m. Nov. 13.

Registration opened for the fourth annual Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings Veterans Day 5K Run taking place on Sunday, Nov. 13, at Grace Watson Hall, located at Rochester Institute of Technology.

The event begins at 8 a.m. with registration, followed at 9:40 a.m. with a color guard procession and guest speaker. The race officially begins at 10 a.m. and will proceed around the RIT campus. Prizes will be awarded in several categories and refreshments will be served after the race.

Registration can be done online, and fees range from $10 for veterans, $15 for students, $20 for the general public and $25 on the day of the race. All proceeds will benefit the local Veterans Outreach Center.

More information can be found online about the race course and teams competing. Each year, the event is sponsored by RIT’s Air Force ROTC program, the Silver Wings and Arnold Air Society. Silver Wings is a national, co-ed, professional organization dedicated to creating proactive, knowledgeable, and effective civic leaders through community service and education about national defense. It is made up largely of civilians interested in personal development, leadership, service and support of military personnel. Arnold Air Society is a professional, honorary service organization advocating the support of aerospace power. It is comprised of cadets throughout the USAF officer candidate training programs, including ROTC throughout university-level institutions, and the Air Force Academy.
