RIT to host mini triathlon

Try-A-Tri features swimming, running and spinning in under an hour

Experience an indoor triathlon at Rochester Institute of Technology March 5, as the RIT Running and Multisport Club presents Try-A-Tri, a 55-minute triathlon featuring swimming, running and spinning.

“It’s a nice starting triathlon, and it’s all inside which is really nice,” said Bailey Kem, a fourth-year physician assistant major from Victor, N.Y., and a coordinator of the event. “And all the proceeds go to charity.”

Proceeds will benefit Flower City Habitat for Humanity, Center for Youth and the Genesee Region chapter of Special Olympics.

Kem said Try-A-Tri is in its 13th year. Typically, about 100 RIT students, faculty and area triathletes participate.

This year’s event is from 7 a.m. to noon at the Gordon Field House. Bring proper attire; no bicycles needed. Prizes will be awarded, and all participants will receive a lighted arm band and a water bottle.

Registration is $10 for students, $25 for faculty and $35 for the public. Deadline to register is Feb. 26.
