Colony Manor apartment fire extinguished

At approximately 8:10 p.m. today, Aug. 22, a fire broke out in a Colony Manor apartment. The fire has been extinguished.

Three RIT students were evaluated at the scene for possible smoke inhalation, and all are doing fine.

The fire did cause structural damage to three units, and housing arrangements have been made for approximately 10 RIT students. The fire appears to have started in a kitchen, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

We are thankful that everyone is safe tonight. We would also like to thank RIT Public Safety, RIT Ambulance and the Henrietta Fire Department for their quick response.
