Nabil Nasr attends G7 follow-up workshop

Nabil Nasr, associate provost and director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS), is attending and presenting at a workshop in Montreal this week hosted by both the Canadian presidency of the G7 and the European Commission.

Nasr will deliver his presentation during the June 21 workshop titled “G7 Value Retention Policies (VRP)—Advancing Remanufacturing, Refurbishment, Repair and Direct Reuse” at the Montreal Science Centre.

During the session, he will present the results of the United Nations Environment Programme’s International Resource Panel’s (IRP) study titled, “Assessment of Resource Efficiency and Innovation in Circular Economy Through Remanufacturing, Refurbishment, Repair and Direct Reuse,” for which Nasr served as lead author. 

The IRP is widely considered the most authoritative scientific forum for scientists and experts working in the area of natural resource management worldwide. Nasr is one of only three U.S. members.

The two-day workshop, a follow-up to the recent G7 summit, is designed to stimulate dialogue between policymakers and business on how to increase VRP activity.

The 44th G7 summit was held June 8-9 in La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada, marking the sixth time since 1981 that Canada has hosted the meetings of the countries with the seven largest advanced economies in the world.
