The Kucera pilots—George Tatalovich, left, and Jim Bowers, right—packed the plane with 150 pounds of Corn Flakes, Cheerios and Rice Krispies hoping to connect with someone who could distribute the food for them inside Haiti. They were not allowed to land in the country and based their operation in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. “George Tatalovich bought all this stuff,” says Jason Faulring, center, who operated the imaging equipment. “It was pretty cramped on the flight down because the plane was full of cereal.” A fellow pilot the crew met in the Dominican Republic delivered the cereal to a Haitian orphanage.
