Today’s Doonesbury comic strip was focused on young Alex’s college and career choice to possibly attend RIT.
Alumni, students, faculty and members of the Rochester community have been proudly emailing University News all morning to ask the question, “Have you seen the comics page?!” You know, it shouldn’t come as a suprise that RIT has made national news again–and in such a fun context.
All this week Alex has been considering which technological institute to attend. A list of schools contains MIT and Rensellaer, but today’s strip featured RIT as the place to go if you’ve got the “science bug” or already hold five patents.
Looks like RIT is a perfect fit for Alex. According to her bio on the comic strip’s Web site:
“She played a key role in successfully bringing the Boomer and Gen-X worlds together, represented by her father and coder extraordinaire Kim Rosenthal. Throughout the dotcom boom the three played hardball with software, searching for the Killer App. In the post-bubble world they now run myVulture.com, for whom Alex aggressively acquires the intellectual assets of failed dotcoms. In her spare time Alex maintains the phenomenally successful Alex-cam web site..She has serious issues with her father over file-sharing, which he deplores.”
Faithful Doonesbury fans know that Alex is a brain and coder extraordinaire. What better place could there be for her great talent than here at RIT?
