RIT in the news: “Business” as usual News hits

Sometimes the best news about RIT isn’t directly about RIT.

Wow, hope I didn’t totally lose you there! What I’m trying to say is certain media placements reflect on the university particularly well when the topic is one of our students, alumni, or maybe even a business that got it’s start through technology developed on campus.

Take the example of Pictometry International Corp., a locally-based imaging science firm. The company’s aerial-mapping technology was created here at RIT, and of its nearly 100 employees worldwide, 26 of them are RIT alumni.

Recently, the company was featured in an article by The Associated Press. The story has received national exposure, appearing in newspapers like The Washington Post, Raleigh-Durham Herald-Sun, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and the Fresno Bee. The most recent placement came yesterday in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/270158_aerial15.html

RIT is increasingly an incubator for the next generation of technology, resulting in new businesses that will drive our economy in the 21st century. That’s the type of story I’d share with the media any day!

That's a really awesome story Paul!

As a student, the more I know about this kind of stuff, the more I can get excited about what RIT is doing.

What is RIT doing in terms of research and more projects like this? Way to go to all the folks at Pictometry... many were Computer Science House (CSH) members.
