Introducing guest blogger (and future ‘best dressed’), Juanita Sikorski Guest blogger, News hits

Introducing Juanita Sikorski, a fourth-year advertising and public relations major in RIT’s College of Liberal Arts. Today, we welcome Juanita as a guest blogger on The Tiger Beat Blog. Over the next few weeks, Juanita will regularly update her status in People magazine’s “From Worst to Best Dressed” contest, now entering its fourth round. Welcome and good luck, Juanita!

Hello! My name is Juanita Sikorski and I’m one of the original 10 contestants (now down to seven) in People magazine’s “From Worst to Best Dressed” contest.

Because I’m an advertising and public relations major, I like to look at different Web sites to see what types of promotions and public relations tactics are being used. This past school year, my roommate got me addicted to People.com because we both like movies and celebrities, along with finding deals on products. One day while looking on People.com, I noticed a promotion for a contest looking for America’s worst dressed women. I decided to enter the “From Worst to Best Dressed” contest because I’m graduating this coming school year and will need to get a job—but I don’t have appropriate or professional attire for my field.

I’m a 22-year-old college student and all of my money goes to school and school-related things. I don’t have the time and money to buy great quality and more “grown-up” clothing that will be needed for when I graduate. Instead, I wear free T-shirts and clothes from eighth grade! This contest is an opportunity to take steps towards becoming an advertising and public relations professional. After all, if I don’t look the part, how are people going to believe or be confident in what I am able to do for them?

If you would like to vote for me in People magazine’s “From Worst to Best Dressed Contest,” please go to People.com and click the “Plus…” section, or go directly to http://www.people.com/people/static/h/package/worsttobest/bio10.html.

You can vote only once a day per computer. Rounds are two days long and last until 5 p.m. (except on weekends, which last from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Monday). Voting ends 11:59 p.m. August 10, and a winner will be announced at 5 p.m August 10.

Also, watch me on “13WHAM News This Morning” on CW-WHAM (cable channel 16) at 8:15 a.m. this Tuesday, July 31.

Thank you for your support!
