‘Hockey night’ in Rochester Dateline: RIT, Events, Podcasts

“Hockey night” in Rochester usually refers to a Rochester Americans game at Blue Cross Arena. But this Saturday night, the RIT Tigers take to the ice downtown in a 7:05 p.m. match-up against Cornell (ticket information).

The last time members of the RIT Tigers men’s hockey team were in Blue Cross Arena for a game—during last season’s postseason—they were spectators. Despite winning last season’s regular-season crown, RIT was ineligible for postseason play. So, this weekend promises to be extra special for players and fans alike.

In anticipation of the big game, I spoke this week with men’s hockey Head Coach Wayne Wilson about playing at the larger Blue Cross Arena, which accommodates many more fans than does “cozy” Ritter Arena—where some fans were turned away from last Friday’s contest, against Bowling Green, in front of a standing-room-only, sell-out crowd of 2,100.

Hear Coach Wilson’s remarks—plus, as always, other RIT news and News & Events highlights—all on this week’s Dateline: RIT – The Podcast.

And, speaking of podcasts, a special “On the Road” episode of Studio 86 features members of RIT’s Formula SAE racing team looking ahead to this year’s racecar project and Formula competitions.

Have a great weekend, and gimme a T-I-G-E-R-S! TIGERS! TIGERS! TIGERS! Beat Cornell!
