I won’t soon forget the first time I saw images of Dubai. I was watching The Today Show and Dubai was one of the international locations that co-anchor Matt Lauer traveled to during his annual “Where in the World is Matt Lauer?” feature. Based on the information in his report, Dubai appeared clean, elegant, beautiful, bustling. The city is rapidly becoming an international hub for business, leisure and education. For God’s sakes—they’re creating their own islands and beachfront properties. And what’s even more amazing is that we (RIT) will soon be in the center of it all.
RIT is preparing to open a campus in Dubai next fall. While I’ll admit that I’m more than a little bit nervous to travel to the Middle East these days, I would hop on the first plane to Dubai if given the chance just to satisfy my curiousity and see it all for myself. RIT students have yet another amazing opportunity set before them, and I’m really glad that so many of our students will be able to experience Dubai firsthand.
Read this week’s edition of News & Events—we’ve laid out the plans for RIT Dubai and I think you’ll agree that it’s pretty amazing stuff.
