Making the CASE for creative achievement Miscellaneous

I learned it early on during my former career as a television news producer—pride in one’s achievement is personal. Knowing you gave it your best is all that really matters. If you’re lucky, someone takes notice. If you’re really lucky, you get acknowledged for the good work.

In that spirit, it is with appreciation for recognition from the Council of Advancement and Support of Education that I share results from the 2009 Accolade Awards, sponsored annually by CASE District II. Two entries associated with Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival have been honored. imagineweb

Inside Imagine RIT, a mini-documentary highlighting the festival’s inaugural event, received a Silver Award in the category of “Webcast/Podcast/CD/DVD Feature.” And the Imagine RIT TV commercial won a Bronze Award in the category of PSA & Commercial Spot.”

Spreading word of these honors gives me a chance to acknowledge key members of the team who made these projects happen. First, my thanks go to Steve Czompo and Joe Bellavia from RIT’s Educational Technology Center. Steve and I have been partner-in-crime dating back to our days at 13WHAM. It’s his direction and editing that really made these pieces sing. As for Joe, his graphics wizardry still has me in awe. Also, I salute Bryan Maslin, a local videographer whose talents are unsurpassed. His keen eye and impeccable sense of timing resulted in the pretty picture you’ll see throughout the documentary.

Collaborating with talented partners in creative endeavors can be very rewarding. Learning that others are taking notice is pretty cool too.
