The emergence of the News & Events ‘Web extra’ Inside N&E

The staff of News & Events is always looking for ways to deliver more news to the RIT community. Our most recent venture, News & Events Daily, is delivered internally via Message Center and we have received lots of positive feedback from our readers. It’s a great complement to the print version of our publication, which, unfortunately, is limited when it comes to the amount of news we can offer.

However, you may have noticed in News & Events (print) that we have added boxes called “Web extras” at the end of certain stories. There are three such Web extras in the current issue.

Kelly Downs’ story about a “virtual” college chat is part of a much longer story that can be accessed online on our University News Web site, www rit.edu/news. Marcia Morphy’s story about the United Way/RIT campaign poster volunteers features a Web extra that directs readers to an audio podcast featuring Becky Simmons and Becky Corcimiglia. And John Follaco’s Web extra asks readers to vote online for the most creative RIT Imagine festival poster.

So, as you can see, we will be using our Web extras in several ways, to give you, the readers, more access to RIT news.
