A
message from the president
As you'll soon note
as you turn the following pages, much of this issue of
The
University Magazine is devoted to what's new at RIT. Our
alumni are spotlighted as they work in what Time magazine
has deemed as "hot jobs" -- careers in fields as novel as imaging
science and biotechnology and as traditional as civil engineering.
You'll read about Distance Learning, as it takes on the Internet
and other technologies to prepare new graduates. Further on
you'll note a full page of some of our most seasoned alumni
who visited campus in June for Golden Reunion, one of our new
alumni programs.
We also introduce
you to projects our students are creating: from Formula cars
and concrete canoes and other equally intriguing, though possibly
quieter, projects. To enhance their experiences as they learn
and create at RIT, we are constantly researching and developing
ideas and programs that will keep our students on the leading
edge and provide them with new career advantages.
Enjoy reading this
issue and discovering the latest developments. Afterward, why
not visit and see for yourself? Attend a lecture, take a class,
participate in an alumni event, have a sandwich in the Student
Alumni Union, or visit one of the art and photo galleries on
campus. You are always welcome here.
Cordially
yours,
