Thanks to an alumna of RIT's packaging science program, RIT recently
received a $5,000 grant from The Abbott Laboratories Fund.
Lori Mihalov Randall '88 was honored with the company's "Outstanding
Researcher Award for achievements in the pursuit of scientific
excellence." For winning the award, Randall was asked to name
an educational institution of her choice to receive the grant.
"I am very proud of my RIT education, and was anxious to be able
to give back to the packaging science department in this way,"
Randall says.
Randall, senior project leader for the Ross Products Division
of Abbott Laboratories, was part of a team that developed a redesigned
aseptic plastic bottle for ready-to-feed infant formula. The bottle
was featured as "package of the month" in the November 2000 issue
of Food & Drug Packaging magazine.
"We appreciate hearing of the success of our graduates and the
continuing support of the packaging industry," says Daniel Goodwin,
packaging science program chair. "This donation will help in our
efforts to keep RIT's packaging science program a leader in packaging
education nationally and internationally."
