RIT women burning bright

During Orientation Week in August, the light of knowledge was symbolically passed on to first-year women students in a ceremony called Lighting the Way. Organized by RIT’s Women’s Center, it is intended to become an annual event to welcome women to RIT. Among the participants were, from left, Caitlyn Ostrowski, second-year mechanical engineering major; Stephanie Walter, second-year engineering exploration; and Irem Gultekin, second-year computer engineering. Lighting the Way is modeled after an 86-year tradition at the University of Pittsburgh.
