Author and Activist Andrew Solomon Presentation and Book Signing

Andrew Solomon, an author and regular contributor to NPR and The New York Times, will give a community lecture 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Robert F. Panara Theatre at Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

His latest book, Far From the Tree: Parents, Children & the Search for Identity, explores the lives of families that accommodate children with physical, mental and social disabilities and how these challenges can broaden one’s capacity for love.

In 2001, he received the National Book Award for Nonfiction for The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

His talk is free and open to the public and will be followed by a book signing.
