As the Director of Instructional Support at the Rochester School for the Deaf, I have been involved with our Travel Abroad Program for the past six years. I am excited about the SEEDS project because I have seen how much traveling benefits students.
The SEEDS project will help our students learn more about themselves, gain cultural insight into the lives of deaf people in other countries, and appreciate Deaf Culture in a different way. I have been fortunate enough to travel to four out of seven continents and believe that traveling is one of the most educational experiences one can have. I am excited to inspire the students to learn more….
My other interests include nutrition, cooking, reading, and photography. I have two adult children who have also caught the travel bug and are involved with global issues in many different ways. We are currently hosting a high school Filipino student who is enrolled at RSD this school year.
ロチェスターろう学校の授業支援部長として過去6年間海外旅行プログラムに携わってきました。生徒が旅行からどんなに多くを得るかを見てきていますので、SEEDSプロジェクトには大変期待しています。
SEEDSプロジェクトは我が校の生徒たちが自分たちについて学び、他国のろう者の生活への文化的洞察を深め、そして異なったろう文化を尊重する助けになると思います。私は7大陸のうち4大陸まで旅行するという幸運に恵まれましたが、旅行は最も教育的な経験であると信じています。生徒たちがより多くを学ぶよう影響を与えることを楽しみにしています。
私の興味の対象はこのほか、栄養、料理、読書、写真などです。私には、同じように旅行熱に感染し、世界的問題に様々な形で関係している、成人した子供が二人います。現在、今学年RSDで学んでいるフィリピン人高校生のホストファミリーをしています。
