SEEDS-International

Rebecca Lynn Sturm

Why are you interested in participating in the SEEDS project?
I'm very interested in participating in the SEEDS project because I love to travel. I enjoy sightseeing and learning about the world. You see, I'm in Deaf world with its own culture in America and it's different from hearing culture just like other cultures are different from America culture.

What are your interests outside of school?
I enjoy hunting, riding on ATV (4-wheeler) + snowmobile + dirt bike, swimming, taking beautiful pictures in nature, being with my family and boyfriend, taking walks in very rural areas at my home, traveling to different states, camping, writing in journals, and friends.

Tell us about your family and your place in the family.
I have really enormous family. Ironically, I'm an only child. My mom's side is Italian and Irish. My dad's side is very strong German. I have three grandfathers and two grandmothers. Sadly, my last great grandmother passed away last year. I had ten great-grandparents. There are over twenty great aunts and great uncles. Obviously there are many aunts and uncles. I would say I have over a hundred cousins. Many of them live in different states and countries. The family I'm very close to is my mom's side. Last, I only have three Deaf relatives, they are my mom, my aunt who is mom's half-sister, my Grampa - mom's father.

Who are your role models?
My family, especially mom, and my boyfriend.
