Patty Sapere has a B.S. in Multi-Disiplinary Studies: Business Administration from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She has been a sign language interpreter since 1984 and holds the CI, CT from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Patty has studied the interaction of student characteristics, interpreter characteristics, and various classroom settings with instructors who are deaf or hearing providing direct or meditated instruction. Patty actively interprets in the community including VRS (Video Relay Service) and is part of the local training team teaching newly hired VRS interpreters. Patty is currently in the 4th year of a 4 year grant that looks at what specific cognitive variables may or may not contribute to math ability in both students who are deaf/hh and hearing.
