ChongMin is a post-doctoral researcher who joined the Center in August 2012 and an adjunct instructor and tutor in the Science and Mathematics Department at NTID/RIT. In 2005, she moved from Seoul, Korea to the U.S to pursue her Ph.D. and received her doctorate in Education from the Ohio State University in 2010, with an emphasis in Research Methodology, Literacy, and Mathematics Education. Before her work at CERP, she served as an assistant professor in Bloomsburg University of PA and has also taught a variety of courses in Deaf Education and ASL/English Interpreting Program. As a deaf researcher, she is very interested in how deaf children learn mathematics/literacy (in this case, reading and writing) and how cognitive factors influence on learning. When instructing and assessing deaf students, she uses an interdisciplinary approach. Her research and teaching are grounded in her personal experiences as a deaf learner and multiple-language learner.
