Georgianna came to CERP after working more than ten years as a sign language interpreter at RIT, most often in the Colleges of Science and Engineering. It was a natural fit having had a career as a high-tech nurse in both private duty and hospital settings. Applying her interests in the fields of science and education, Georgianna currently is a research associate in the Center for Education Research Partnerships. Focusing on deaf students’ accessing educational material, her research investigates language, learning and cognition. Other considerations are deaf students’ backgrounds, literacy and learning strategies and how metacognition influences learning in the classroom.
