An RIT/NTID Center of Excellence for Students Who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Helen Blom

Helen is a (deaf) PhD student at Radboud University Nijmegen, in the Netherlands, who visited the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 2013 as part of her Master’s project. She conducted a study into deaf and hard-of-hearing students' online social networking activities and their friendship qualities (currently “in press” ) and was involved in other projects at CERP. Helen recently graduated with her Research Master in Behavioural Science and is currently working on her PhD project concerning hypertext reading comprehension in deaf and hard-of-hearing students and students with Specific Language Impairments. She remains involved in ongoing studies at CERP.
