The Panara Theatre, 1510 Lab Theatre, Dance Lab and its related spaces (dressing rooms, green room, lab) are available for use, at no cost, to RIT Departments, Faculty/Staff, students, or Institute-sponsored events during normal work hours; M-F, 9-5. Events taking place outside these hours will be charged a nominal fee to cover the costs of technical support staff, custodial support, and in some cases, rental of equipment.
The Theatre and its related spaces is also available to groups and organizations in the Greater Rochester community. Contact Jim Orr for rental/contract information.
Steps for requesting use of a theatre
- Check theatre calendar for availability
- Fill out electronic request form completely. Any stage set-ups or needs not covered by the request form must be approved by the NTID Performing Arts Technical Director
- Contact RIT Interpreting Services (475-6281) to arrange for sign language interpreters
- Contact RIT Physical Plant (475-6919) to arrange for custodial support for events taking place outside normal work hours
- Contact RIT Campus Safety (475-2853) to arrange, if necessary, for security officers or parking
- Contact NTID Special Events (475-6406) to arrange for tables in lobby, food services, and decorations
Requester Responsibility
By completing and sending this form you agree to and accept the following conditions:
- Theatre must be left in the same condition you found it. You will be charged a fee to cover any expenses for maintainence and/or technical support staff, damages, disposal, or any other expenses the theatre incurs as a result of your event.
- Requests for the theatre made by students, student clubs or student organizations must be approved by a Faculty Advisor. Written consent from such Advisor(s) must be obtained by the NTID Performing Arts Program's House Manager before requests will be confirmed.
- Persons and organizations utilizing theatre space(s) must abide by local laws, Institute policies, and house policies.
- Events taking place outside normal work hours (M-F, 9-5) require technical support staff and custodial support--a nominal fee to cover expenses will be charged. Contact Jim Orr for details.
- Non-institute organizations will be issued a separate contract with explicit terms and conditions--contact Jim Orr, Outreach Coordinator
House Rules and Policies
- No food or drink allowed in the theatre or its related spaces.
- Smoking is not permitted within the LBJ building which houses the Panara Theatre and its related spaces.
- The use of photography or other recording devices is strictly prohibited during NTID or guest artist productions.
- No refunds or exchanges on tickets purchased for NTID or guest artist productions.
- Service dogs permitted only with official identification.
- Latecomers or parents accompanied by young children will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager.
- Patrons causing disturbance or distraction to other audience members may be asked to leave the premises.
- Groups renting the theatre and its related spaces are responsible for any damages or expenses caused as a result of their event.
Fee for Rentals
Local (Rochester and Monroe County) community groups are charged $300/day for use of the theatre. Other non-Institute affiliated organizations (ie: national touring companies, music groups) are charged $700/day for use of the theatre. There are additional charges for technical support staff, custodial support, security, design support, and equipment that is specified in the contract sent to rentors. All rentors must provide their own insurance certificates.
