This page contains a collection, on one page, of all the handouts available on all the other pages of this site with a short description of the suggested use for each.

1 Teaching Pace Handout Teaching Pace This handout provides you with a Microsoft Word document containing suggested strategies you can use to slow the pace of your instruction and reduce the amount of material you cover in class.
2 Teaching Pace This handout provides you with a Microsoft Word document containing an in-class evaluation form you can (modify and) use to obtain feedback from students on whether or not your strategies for slowing the pace are successful.
3 Teaching Attention Handout Teaching Attention This handout provides you with a Microsoft Word document containing a simple note you can print and give to students who are talking in class and thus interrupting the class.
4 Teaching Pace Handout Teaching Point of Reference This handout provides you with a Microsoft Word document containing an in-class evaluation form you can use to obtain feedback from students on whether or not your strategies for ensuring that you are succeeding with using point of reference are successful. In particular, it asks students for feedback on whether or not you are allowing students sufficient time to follow the flow of exchange in class.
5 Teaching CallingonStudents Handout Teaching Calling on Students This handout provides you with a Microsoft Word document containing a handout you can print and give to students (or include in your syllabus), that explains the need to allow everyone to follow the class discussion. It also explains a device you will use(potential speakers must be holding a ball ­ or other object ­ in order to speak) to ensure turn-taking in class.
 
6 Communication Pace Handout Communication Pace This file provides you with an image that you can print and post on the wall of your office near the door. It will serve as a simple reminder when you leave your office that you take a drink to sip during class as a way to slow your presentation.
7 Communication HHStudents Handout Communication HH Students This file provides you with an image that you can print and post on the back wall of your classrooms. It will serve as a simple reminder each time you see it that you should speak only when the image is in your field of vision. This will prevent you from speaking ‘to the board’ and help to ensure that you are facing the class when speaking.
 
8 SupportServices Interpreting Handout Support Services Interpreting The handout provides you with a checklist in Microsoft Word format that you can print and use when meeting with the interpreter to ensure that appropriate services are provided in your classroom.
9 SupportServices Live Captioning Handout Support Services Live Captioning This handout provides you with a checklist in Microsoft Word format that you can print and use when communicating with the captionist to ensure that appropriate services are provided in your classroom.
10 SupportServices MaterialsandMedia Handout Support Services Materials and Media This handout provides you with a draft university policy regarding the use of captioned media; you can alter it as needed for your institution.
11 SupportServices Notetaking Handout Support Services Notetaking This handout provides you with a checklist that you can print and use when communicating with the notetaker to ensure that appropriate services are provided
 
12 Environment GroupWork Handout Environment Group Work This handout provides you with you with a Microsoft Word document containing a page that you can print and duplicate to give to students working in groups; the content of the page establishes communication rules for the students.
