Gail Kovalik is the Grants Coordinator for NTID. In this capacity, she provides support for faculty and staff in all NTID centers who are seeking external funding for special projects and research. Gail provides leadership, planning, and management of pre-proposal grant activities; identifies, researches, disseminates and recommends funding opportunities to support new initiatives; assists with proposal preparation, including text and budget formulation, editing, and submission; acts as NTID's liaison to the Office of Sponsored Programs at RIT; and maintains a funding library and a grant web page.
Formerly librarian and head of the NTID Staff Resource Center (SRC), Gail continues to act as acquisitions librarian for the SRC and for the deafness/disability collection of Wallace Library at RIT. Additionally, Gail edits the CRTL Newsletter and the NTID Research Bulletin.
Gail has a bachelor's degree in biology from Middlebury College, and a master's in library science from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Before coming to NTID, she headed research libraries at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY, and at the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility in Newport News, VA. She has also worked as head of Government Documents/Interlibrary Loan at the Central Science Library of the University of Florida, Gainesville, and as assistant librarian at the National Center for State Courts in Williamsburg, VA.
