Question from Meeta K., India

Can you provide videos and contacts of some children who got their cochlear implant done at the age of 3 to 4 yrs. of age? Perhaps information concerning financial help for getting an implant?

For videos and contacts, I would recommend that you look at the website of the Ear Foundation. They have quite a bit of information for parents, including some videos and even information about early support for children with cochlear implants written in Punjabi. They can probably put you in contact with families in India who might be in a similar situation to yours.

With regard to financial help, we have been through a situation here in which all of the medical services associated with a student getting an implant were being donated, but we were unable to get a company to donate the instrument itself. Your best alternative would be to seek financial support locally, from a children’s charity.  I am unaware of anyone who provide such support within India, nor have I been able to find any helpful information elsewhere.
