Description and Goals

 

Attend one, two, three, four, or all five of the Microsoft Certified Application Specialist Exam Preparation workshops during June 7-11, 2010 at RIT/NTID in Rochester, NY at a cost of $250 each. Save $295 when you register for all five workshops for only $955.  All workshops are held from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

 

These workshops are designed to prepare you to take the official Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS exam.)   The MCAS Exam Preparation workshops will be held as follows:

  • MS Word 2007 — Monday, June 7, 2010

  • MS PowerPoint 2007—Tuesday, June 8, 2010

  • MS Excel 2007—Wednesday, June 9, 2010

  • MS Access 2007—Thursday, June 10, 2010

  • MS Outlook 2007—Friday, June 11, 2010

Stand out in the job market! Get certified in Microsoft Office programs! A MCAS certificate will prove to current or potential employers that you have the skills necessary to successfully use Microsoft Office programs. This workshop series will prepare you to take the official MCAS certification exams. You will use the official exam preparation software, Certiprep, which replicates the actual testing environment. The Instructor will also provide test-taking tips. Participants will be provided sample test questions via Certiprep and will have most of the day to practice. Once the participant feels comfortable with the material he/she will be able to take the official MCAS exam. The official MCAS exam is 50 minutes long and should be started no later than 3:30 pm on the day of the workshop.

  • Word 2007 Exam Preparation—Skill sets include: creating and customizing documents, formatting content, working with visual content, organizing content, reviewing documents, sharing and securing content.


  • PowerPoint 2007 Exam Preparation—Skill sets include: Creating and formatting presentations, creating and formatting slide content, working with visual content, collaborating on and delivering presentations.


  • Excel 2007 Exam Preparation—Skill sets include: creating and manipulating data, formatting data and content, creating and modifying formulas, presenting data visually, collaborating and securing data.


  • Access 2007 Exam Preparation—Skill sets include: structuring a database, creating and formatting database elements, entering and modifying data, creating and modifying queries, presenting and sharing data, managing and maintaining databases.


  • Outlook 2007 Exam Preparation—Skill sets include: managing messages, scheduling, and tasks, along with managing contacts/personal contact information, and organizing information.

Prerequisites

 

An INTERMEDIATE skill level in the Microsoft Office program for which you wish to become certified is required.  You will also need to be familiar with personal computers and with Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Instructor:Tracy Magin


Tracy Magin

Tracy Magin is an Instructor and has been an NTID faculty member for more than 4 years. She earned her B.S. in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego as well as her M.S. in Business Education. Prior to entering the field of education, Tracy worked in the banking industry where she held her Series 6 and 63 licenses. She also worked in Human Resources for a number of years. Tracy is a certified Microsoft Office Specialist with extensive experience in Microsoft Office programs. She currently holds certification in Microsoft Office 2003 Word Expert, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and Microsoft Office 2007 Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Tracy has been given the honor of receiving the Microsoft Office 2007 Master certification title.
