Description and Goals

 

Attend the five-day Microsoft Office 2007: A Professional Approach workshop July 13-17, 2009 at a cost of $500, at RIT/NTID in Rochester, NY. The workshop will be held daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

 

You may use Microsoft Office on a daily basis, but do you use it enough to make a dramatic impact in your workplace?  Then this instructional workshop is designed for you.  This class goes beyond the basics of Microsoft Office. 


Each participant will have a solid understanding of how to apply Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint so they will be able to enhance their level of productivity in the work place. Our instructors will guide you through a step-by-step “how-to” approach that will help you master the features only Microsoft Office has to offer. Upon completion of this workshop, you will have sufficient knowledge to take the MCAS (Microsoft Certified Application Specialist) certification test. Topics

  • Word 2007 – Topics covered include (but are not limited to) file management, creating and formatting documents, style and templates, tables, Desktop Publishing, and mail merge.

  • Excel 2007 – Topics covered include (but are not limited to) creating and formatting spreadsheets, use of formulas and functions to calculate and chart data, sorting and filtering data and exploring lists ranges and PivotTables.

  • PowerPoint 2007 – Topics covered include (but are not limited to) developing presentation text, working with presentation illustrations, creating diagrams, with SmartArt Graphics.

 

Prerequisites

 

Each participant should be familiar with personal computers and with Microsoft Windows operating systems.  No prior knowledge or use of Microsoft Office is required.

Instructors: Adriana Kulakowsk and Tracy Magin

 


Adriana KulakowskiAdriana Kulakowski is an instructor in NTID's Business Studies department at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).  She earned her B.S. in accounting at RIT and her M.S. in Business and Distributive Education from Nazareth College of Rochester. Adriana has taught business education for over 6 years in both the public and private school sectors before transitioning to higher education.  Before entering the field of education, she worked as an accountant for 8 years.  Adriana is committed to providing both students and others a platform to fulfill their inter-potential in order to achieve both business and life success.

 

 

 

 

Tracy MaginTracy Magin is an Instructor and has been an NTID faculty member for more than 4 years. She earned her B.S. in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego as well as her M.S. in Business Education. Prior to entering the field of education, Tracy worked in the banking industry where she held her Series 6 and 63 licenses. She also worked in Human Resources for a number of years. Tracy is a certified Microsoft Office Specialist with extensive experience in Microsoft Office programs for

the last 11 years.
