Description and Goals

 

Attend the five-day Adobe Flash CS4 workshop June 22-26, 2009 at a cost of $500, at RIT/NTID in Rochester, NY. The workshop will be held daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

 

Introduction to Adobe Flash CS4 is a 5-day, intensive workshop that is designed for beginning users who are interested in learning Adobe Flash.

 

In this workshop, participants will learn how to create illustrations, create web animations, develop web-based and stand-alone interactive media, and develop design elements that are used to enhance web pages or interactive media. Additional content areas covered during the workshop include, understanding staging, timelines, frame rates, key frames, transitions, and object attributes.

 

The workshop structure includes lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities that enable workshop attendees to get experience and expert guidance in working with Flash.

 


Topics

  • Understanding what Flash can and cannot do.

  • Learning about the Flash workspace and its workflow.

  • Importing and using images from other programs.

  • Creating vector illustrations using Flash’s drawing tools.

  • Understand and use the various animation techniques Flash.

  • Designing and creating animations that are convey your message successfully.

  • Designing and creating Flash interactive elements for web sites.

  • Developing interactive animations and simple applications within Flash.

  • Learning the basics of ActionScript.

  • Publishing your Flash movies to the web.

Prerequisites

 

Workshop attendees should be familiar with personal computers and working with either the Mac OS X or Windows operating systems. Some experience or understanding of Adobe software is helpful, but not required.

Instructor: Kurt Stoskopf

Kurt Stoskopf is an Assistant Professor and a Deaf faculty member in the Arts and Imaging Studies department in the National Technical Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology. Over the last 10 years, Kurt has taught courses in web design, computer graphics, graphic design, and traditional media drawing. He has a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, and a Master's of Fine Arts degree in Computer Graphics Design from RIT. Kurt teaches full-time at NTID and owns and runs a freelance illustration studio that he has been running for the last 11 years.
