New for ITC Studios this June: Pilot ITV Strand for a CTS faculty member! * This June (during either the June 12th Studio week or the June 19th Studio week) a special pilot experience will be made available for one CTS faculty to participate in a unique "ITV" Strand. The intended outcome of such participation, under the expert instruction/guidance of ITV staff, is completion of an ITC Project consisting of a prototype instructional videotape/CD for pilot use with students, responding to some aspect of the CTS curriculum. It is expected that the prototype Project would be modular and self-instructional in nature, addressing either some technical concept or skill or some procedural description/demonstration of a particular machine or learning tool. Resources available to the Strand participant in accomplishing the Project include:
(needed equipment and supplies for this project will be supplied through ITV) In registering for this Strand, you will be required to complete a regular ITC Proposal, specifying a Project that falls within the parameters noted above. Bill Clymer, ITC Coordinator, will consult with Bob Brewer of ITV to review the Proposal. In the case of more than one CTS registrant for Strand participation, decision for acceptance will be based on "first come, first serve" basis. The ITV Strand participant will join participants in the other ITC Strands for all "common activities" throughout the Studio week. No special skills or experiences in working with video technology are required for participating in this pilot Strand experience. The ITV Strand participant will be expected to complete any unfinished work remaining at the Studios completion by the end of August, so that the Project is ready for implementation beginning with AY 2000-2001. Further, the Strand participant will be asked to demonstrate the completed Project with fellow CTS teachers next Fall as an example of a teaching/learning tool that is possible through collaboration with ITV. * This Pilot is being undertaken this summer as a first step in investigating the feasibility of a joint effort between CTS and ITV next year to move from large-scale Level I Projects to small-scale "incubator projects." The intention of such a transformation is to enable more direct and spontaneous exploration by teachers regarding the application of instructional technology tools in their work with students. Pending the success of this pilot effort, this ITV Strand will be incorporated in future ITC Studios, and other areas of NTID beyond CTS will become involved. |
