John L. Norris Addiction Treatment Center offers inpatient chemical dependency treatment for alcoholism and drug abuse. Family programs are also offered. Interpreted AA meetings are available in inpatient treatment program. Financial arrangements include self-pay; sliding fee scale; SSI/SSD; Medicaid;and private insurances.
The John L. Norris Addiction Treatment Center operates a 44-bed, inpatient, addiction treatment program 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The purpose of the center is to help those people addicted to alcohol experience a comfortable living environment free from alcohol and drugs; bring about a change in those individuals and a solid basis for sobriety. The John L. Norris ATC has been serving New York State for more than 25 years. The center is located in Rochester, NY and is operated by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. It has specially trained staff and programs to help deaf and hard of hearing people with alcohol and/or drug problems.
The John L. Norris ATC is proud to offer the only inpatient program for the treatment of deaf and hard of hearing persons in New York State and is one of the only six programs in the United States. The length of stay for this population is slightly longer than the average length of stay for hearing patients. Counseling staff is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). Interpreting Staff are Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certified. Treatment features include: group and individual therapy, educational lectures and movies, self help meetings, and recreational therapy.
