Commonly Used Evaluation Terms (Qualitative Section)

Commonly Used Terms for EvaluationCommonly Used Terms for EvaluationOur team sometimes struggled with the qualitative terms (good, very good, fair..etc) when evaluating and would end up referring back to documents that allowed for pigeonholing...we developed this document that has a list of common terms for the team to use that aren't tied in to a particular rating and have found it helpful. We use it when filling out the evaluation forms. Just thought I would share, feel free to use it if it would be helpful, let me know if you have any questions.

Commonly Used Evaluation Terms

Hi Charlene - I like your form, which is Simlar to a form in Section 3B but your form, as you indicate, does not tie terms to a particular rating. I am assuming your raters compare terms they select to the SLPI Rating Scale to help them arrive at a rating.

The only terms I would not include are Native like and Near Native like under Production and Fluency Rate and Native like under Comprehension Rate.

Thank you for sharing your form.

Hmmm, can one reply to oneself!?!

Charlene wrote an email to me that motivated me to again review SLPI materials and lo and behold native and native-like are terms that Bill and I have and do use to describe rate. Charlene's form, therefore, looks great as is....all terms are appropriate.

This is certainly a reminder to me of what and many of you have heard often from Bill and me; that is, please continue to periodically and CAREFULLY review SLPI materials......it is amazing how much information is there!

Again Charlene, thank you for providing a another form that may be helpful to raters in making fair and accurate ratings.
