Deaf Rapper Inks Record Contract

Sean Forbes, a 28-year-old deaf rapper and RIT/NTID alumnus, recently signed a contract with major record label The Bass Brothers – the label that discovered famous rapper Marshall “Eminem” Mathers.
Born in Rochester, Mich., Forbes was raised in Farmington Hills, a suburb of Detroit. Both of his parents were musicians, in addition to his mother working as vice president at her father’s trucking company, and Forbes’ father owning and managing a number of restaurants in the area.
“My dad is also one half of The Forbes Brothers, a country rock band, with my Uncle Denny,” said Forbes. With music in his blood, Forbes would not allow deafness to stand in his way.
