High anxiety becomes high honors, high hopes

30 Jun

It wasn’t making the grade that worried Remy Glock when she transferred to RIT/NTID after two years at the University of Nevada. She was more worried about being homesick, thousands of miles away from her family in Reno.

Glock kept in daily contact with her mother, Joni, via email, texts and Skype during her three years in Rochester and is proud to have earned her BA degree in graphic design this May from RIT/NTID. She graduated with a 3.97 cumulative GPA and was named Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar from RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Science. She also won an Academic Achievement Award from NTID.

She was one of 394 RIT/NTID graduates this year. Read more.

RIT to offer master of architecture degree

15 Jun

A collaboration between RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability and College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, the master of architecture program focuses on the areas of sustainability, urbanism and integrated practice such as energy efficiency.

The program is founded on the principle that architecture programs can no longer afford to teach anything other than sustainable architecture. In addition to courses in industrial ecology, sustainable science and sustainable buildings, traditional courses in design, theory and even history will be taught through the lens of sustainability. Students also will have opportunities to collaborate with research labs and academic programs in pollution prevention, sustainable engineering, urban and community studies and public policy.

The program will launch this fall. Read more.
